Riverside Municipal Court
FAQs

What forms of payment are accepted? We accept cash, cashier’s checks, money orders and personal checks.  If paying at the court office, we also accept credit and debit cards, except American Express.

How do I continue my case? Cases will only be continued from an initial appearance one time by the clerk.  The person who the ticket is issued to may call the court and request a continuance by phone or by appearing in person at the court office.  Continuances left on voicemail will not be granted.

Can I pay double to have a speeding ticket kept off my record? No.  You must contact a licensed Missouri attorney.

Can I take a defensive driving course to avoid points on my record? We do not allow this option.

How do I get my license re-instated? You must pay any and all outstanding citations and obtain a compliance letter.  You may take the compliance letter to a driver’s license bureau.  The Department of Motor Vehicles charges a re-instatement fee of $20 plus a processing fee.  Please contact the Department of Revenue with specific questions at (573) 751-4475.

When is my court date? Please call (816) 741-1212 for specific court date information.

How do I get a public defender? You must appear on your court date and make a formal request before the Court.  The Riverside Municipal Court does not employ public defenders.

When do I have to pay my ticket? The due date is listed on the left hand corner of your citation.  You may also call the court office Monday through Friday at (816) 741-1212 for the due date.

What happens if I don’t pay my ticket on time? A failure to appear notice will be issued along with a warrant for your arrest and notification will be sent to the Department of Revenue for the suspension of your license.

I’ve moved.  What information do I need to give the Court Clerk? It is the defendant’s responsibility to keep the Court Clerk informed of their correct address.  You may mail the information to the court address listed or call the court office at (816) 741-1212.
