Who's responsible for Animal Control?
The Public Safety Department of the City of Riverside is responsible for patrolling the city to search for animals running at large, investigate complaints of animal cruelty, and responds to calls and complaints regarding vicious, deceased, stray, or diseased animals. The ACO Unit enforces city and state animal control laws, interprets, and explains to the public those ordinances that relate to the care and keep of domestic animals, and protecting citizenry from any wildlife that threatens our population.
What should I do if I see a free-roaming dog or cat?
To report a roaming animal, please contact Animal Control at (816) 741-1191 or AnimalControl@RiversideMo.com.
Please be sure to leave your name, your phone number, a description of the animal and its last known location.
Who do I call if I see a dead or injured animal on our roadways?
To report an animal that needs to be removed from the roadside, please contact Animal Control at (816) 741-1191 or AnimalControl@RiversideMo.com. Please be sure to give your name, your phone number, a description of the type of animal and its last known location.
What is being done about feral cats?
The City of Riverside looked for humane ways to control the feral cat situation and the trap-neuter-return was determined to be the most effective. To help with this on-going program, please call (816) 372-9290 and leave a message to let No More Homeless Pets KC (NMHPKC) know how you can help. A volunteer will return your call.
How do I license my pet?
Review the Pet License page for forms and information.
