Riverside has 3 cemeteries with gravestones that date back to 1857. The first was connected with St. Matthew's Church and was called, appropriately, St. Matthews Cemetery. There is also a family cemetery, the John and Elizabeth Brenner Cemetery, and the newest, East Slope.
Until 1965 the St. Matthews Cemetery was under the direction of an elected board of directors; it is now maintained by St. Matthew's Church Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, Inc.
